VITEBSK, 11 June (BelTA) - The Marathon of Remembrance dedicated to the history of the Great Patriotic War has brought together the youth of Belarus and Russia, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Oblast Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Vyacheslav Khrol told BelTA.
According to him, the marathon is a project of the international school of young leaders of Russia and Belarus and includes a series of online webinars on Instagram with historians, public figures and veterans of the Great Patriotic War from different regions of Belarus, Russia and other CIS countries.
“It is for a reason that the project has been organized in the run-up to 22 June. This is the day when the Great Patriotic War broke out 79 years ago. The main purpose of the marathon is to exchange opinions. Our speakers talk about war events in their areas, the fate of their relatives, and outstanding residents of their cities or villages,” said Vyacheslav Krol.
The results of the marathon will be summed up during a panel session on 22 June. It will be held in the format of a video conference and will bring together about 100 representatives of public organizations, children's movements, reenactment clubs, educational institutions of the countries participating in the project.
The marathon is organized by the Vitebsk Oblast Organization of the BRSM Youth Union and the Smolensk Oblast Organization “Russian Union of Youth”.
