Belarus' Red Cross issues vouchers to Ukrainian resettlers

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Red Cross Society (BRCS) began issuing vouchers to resettlers from Lugansk Oblast and Donetsk Oblast, BelTA learned from the BRCS.

A total of 3,660 vouchers to the total of Br366,000 were purchased, each worth Br100. “We started issuing the vouchers in Minsk. The regions will join the campaign within a week. Every voucher is valid for six months,” the BRCS said.

The vouchers can be used to buy foodstuffs (except for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products), articles of daily necessity in the retail network of the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies Belkoopsoyuz and also at Belarus department store in Minsk.

Among the regions the assistance is distributed depending on the needs: 1,068 vouchers will be issued in Gomel Oblast, 972 in Mogilev Oblast, 510 in Minsk Oblast, 405 in Brest Oblast, 324 in Vitebsk Oblast and 246 in Grodno Oblast. In the capital city, they will be given to 135 resettlers. Eligible for this kind of one-time assistance are elderly people, people with disabilities, pregnant and nursing women, single-parent families with children, families with many children.

The voucher program is being implemented with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the European Commission.
