Belarus President Orchestra to play wartime songs at Minsk railway station

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The President Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus will give a concert at Minsk railway station, BelTA learned from Chief Conductor of the orchestra Viktor Babarikin.

“On 27 June, the orchestra will give a free concert in a waiting lobby of Minsk railway station to celebrate Independence Day and the 75th anniversary of Belarus liberation from Nazi invaders,” Viktor Babarikin said. “The concert will start at 13h00. Minsk citizens and guests, invited war veterans will hear wartime songs performed by the orchestra.”

On 3 July, the President Orchestra will perform a similar program in Nesvizh Castle. The concert will also feature Belarus' Honored Artist Vladimir Gromov and Belarus People's Artist Vladimir Petrov. These concerts are part of the Belarus Remembers tour of the orchestra. It has already visited Brest, Mogilev, Orsha, and Myadel and will be on its way to Grodno to round off the tour on 6 July.

The President Orchestra will take part in one of the opening concerts of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk on 9 July. The concert entitled “Overture to the festival: from Classics to Rock” will feature rock singers, renowned opera singers from Italy, Russia, South Korea, France, and other countries, modern Belarusian artists. “The aim of the concert is to demonstrate the scope of the festival and music diversity it offers,” Viktor Babarikin noted. The opening concert of the festival will also feature the President Orchestra.

“Our schedule is busy till the end of the year. For example, we will conclude the Classical Music at the Town Hall festival on 31 August and give the Music of Soviet Films concert featuring the most famous melodies on 20 September,” Viktor Babarikin said. On 12 October, a concert celebrating the anniversary of the band Pesnyary and its founder Vladimir Mulyavin will take place. The orchestra will also take part in a concert dedicated to Russian singer and songwriter Vladimir Vysotsky on 26 November, present the programs “Classic Meets Rock” on 30 November, and “Metallica Show S&M Tribute” on 14 December.
