MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – The Belarus President Administration has started using new approaches to communicating with the public. Some of them were mentioned by Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova as she met with reporters on 14 June, BelTA has learned.
“We are already using new forms. The administration receives people every quarter. We go to the regions more often in order to see the situation on the ground,” Natalia Kochanova said.
Apart from that, the Belarus President Administration set up special monitoring groups to study the issues facing local communities. This allows assessing the work of local authorities and company chiefs. “Our three-pronged priority includes prices, employment and salaries. We talk a lot about it and this task is really important,” she said.
The Belarus President Administration collaborates with the recently established Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies and the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences. This helps build a better understanding of the situation, to identify the most burning issues in each region and to come to grips with the problems that concern people the most.
“Forms and methods vary. It is important to treat people's petitions in a timely and fair way. If a person approaches us, it means he/she has a problem that should be resolved,” Natalia Kochanova said.
In her words, the work with petitions brings results. “We have seen that if a petition reaches high-ranking officials, it spurs on local authorities to promptly resolve a respective issue. Of course, we want local authorities to act faster when people approach them,” Natalia Kochanova emphasized.
Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned this form of communications between the public and local authorities as he announced new appointments. “If you do not know what to do, go and meet with people. Even if you don't get an answer to your question, it will help you in the future. You will understand what people are living and breathing. The issues you are struggling with sitting in your office no longer seem that difficult. Therefore, we need to approach people and appreciate them. Keeping in touch with people is our signature style,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.More about Society
