Belarus plans to drop quarantine requirement for vaccinated tourists

MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – Belarus plans to cancel the quarantine requirement for vaccinated tourists, Belarus' Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper, BelTA has learned.

“I think we will soon introduce a bonus for the vaccinated: we will drop the quarantine requirement for those who arrive from the countries of the ‘red' zone. There is an active discussion worldwide about immunity passports. We have introduced vaccination certificates,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

In particular, Belarus and Russia are considering a possibility to ease the border crossing procedures and cancel the need to present PCR test results as soon as the peak in vaccinations is reached.

The minister noted that the task for now is to vaccinate people: so far the demand for COVID shots is outpacing the supply. When the domestic demand is met, one can consider providing vaccines to foreign nationals. “I do not see any problems in this, everything is quite real,” he added.

A reminder, vaccination certificates will be issued to Belarusians who got vaccinated against COVID-19. International regulations and requirements concerning COVID-19 vaccination are still in the works. Once they are ready, Belarusians might need a vaccination certificate to go abroad. Certificates will be issued on request of people who plan trips to other countries.

Belarusians who plan to go abroad in the course of the year will be able to apply for certificates to the healthcare facility where they got their jabs. Certificates will be issued on a paid basis.
