Belarus parliament receives over 600 proposals regarding amendments to Administrative Offences Code

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) - The MPs have received more than 600 proposals from citizens and business entities regarding amendments to the Code on Administrative Offences, Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Law of the House of Representatives Svetlana Lyubetskaya said during a press briefing in BelTA's press center.

"We are now working on the law intensively today to see which norms are outdated, which have become irrelevant. Perhaps there will be novel concepts. Everything needs to be carefully scrutinized. Both scholars and practitioners are involved in this process. I want to draw attention to the unique experience of very engaged and active participation of the public. At the initial stage of the discussion of the new version of the Code on Administrative Offenses, the House of Representatives received more than 600 suggestions from citizens and business entities about their vision of today's law enforcement practice and practical proposals," Svetlana Lyubetskaya noted.

According to her, the suggestions continue to come in. "There are constructive ones. People express their opinions how they perceive justice and severity of offenses. The proposals have been submitted by completely different categories of citizens, both by age and social status: retirees, business representatives, and a lot of young people. The flow does not stop to this day. We study all proposals to take them into account in the future. The matter is not about quantity but about the active position of citizens and business entities," Svetlana Lyubetskaya said.
