Draft of Belarus' new national security concept based on "security through development" principle

MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – The Minsk City Hall is hosting a discussion on the new draft national security concept, BelTA has learned.

“On behalf of the president of the Republic of Belarus, the State Secretariat of the Security Council has organized and is holding discussion platforms for the public to discuss the draft national security concept. Of course, the format of speeches and reports varies depending on the audience at these dialogue platforms. We highlight one or another aspect of the concept, focus on one of the nine spheres of national security,” Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Rakhmanov said.

According to him, it is very important to get the feedback from experts and ordinary people on the draft national security concept. “We welcome the proposals for the draft national security concept,” he noted. “Such discussions have shown that people are also concerned about the military component of the national security. However, they are more interested in economic and social matters that are also covered in the draft national security concept,” Aleksandr Rakhmanov noted.

“People discuss social justice and social commitments of businesses. People say that the draft national security concept has rightly declares that while ensuring our national security we are not just closing down and applying all possible bans, we are promoting security through development. We ensure the security of people as a unique social group. Yet, we do not rest on our laurels. We can and will promote sustainable development of the Republic of Belarus in all areas,” Aleksandr Rakhmanov said.
