Belarus looks forward to bolster ties with Czechia

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - Belarus looks forward to strengthen bilateral relations with the Czech Republic, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Czechia to Belarus Tomas Pernicky, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

The parties discussed the issues of trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation. “There are many areas of mutual interest,” underlined Mikhail Myasnikovich. In his opinion, the countries have the potential for more dynamic trade and economic relations, more joint companies. “We can implement more joint projects. Czech companies could operate more actively on the Belarusian market and use Belarus as a gateway to the markets of the Eurasian economic space,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich highlighted mechanical engineering among the priority lines of partnership. “We are interested in the experience of the Czech Republic in engine engineering, management systems. We can do really good projects,” he said. In addition, Belarus and the Czech Republic could cooperate successfully in pharmaceuticals, polymer materials.

The Ambassador noted the interest of Czech business in Belarus. He spoke about the most successful joint projects, including in agriculture, water treatment.

Ambassador Tomas Pernicky emphasized that during the second half of 2022 the Czech Republic will preside in the European Union. “The Eastern Partnership policy will be one of the priorities of our presidency,” he said.

During the talks the parties discussed the ways of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and touched upon the participation of Czech athletes in the forthcoming European Games in Minsk.
