MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Customs officials of Belarus and Latvia have discussed ways to increase the throughput capacity of road checkpoints and maintain an uninterrupted flow of vehicles, BelTA has learned from the State Customs Committee.
On 18 December a Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee met with the Latvian delegation led by Deputy Director General of the Customs Administration of the State Revenue Service of Latvia Raimonds Zukuls at the Grigorovshchina checkpoint.
The participants of the meeting agreed on the joint action plan to secure smooth border crossing of vehicles in the run-up to New Year holidays. They discussed the way the customs and border services of the two countries should interact in order to maintain uninterrupted flow of vehicles across the border and to increase the throughput capacity of road checkpoints on the Belarus-Latvia border.
The parties will stay in touch to inform each other about emerging issues and efforts to resolve them. “The improvement of work in this area is getting increasingly relevant as Belarus is getting ready to host the 2nd European Games in 2019,” the State Customs Committee noted.
