Belarus' Kupala Theater to go online with Paulinka production

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – The legendary production Paulinka of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater will be streamed live for the whole world for the first time, BelTA learned from the theater.

The event will take place on World Theater Day on 27 March. “The theater will live stream the Paulinka production. Thus not only Belarusians, but also representatives of Belarusian diaspora in other countries, our compatriots who are currently abroad, and everyone interested in Belarusian culture will be able to enjoy this theatrical masterpiece. The live stream will be available to any device, anywhere in the world without authorization,” the theater said.

The high-quality multi-camera filming will enable every spectator to immerse in the atmosphere of the theater hall and see everything happening on stage from various angles. Russian subtitles will be available for the live stream. It will start at 19:00 Belarusian time.

“The Paulinka production staged by Lev Litvinov in 1944 is the visiting card of the Yanka Kupala Theater. This production opens every season and has been in the theater's repertoire for almost 80 years. In 2019, Paulinka was added to the list of Belarus' intangible historical and cultural heritage,” the theater added.

Almost two dozen talented actresses played the main character in the history of the production, from Raisa Koshelnikova and Zoya Belokhvostik to Marta Golubeva, who will perform on 27 March. The cast will also include Maria Zakharevich, Pavel Kharlanchuk-Yuzhakov, Andrei Kovalchuk, Alena Sidorova, Nikolai Kuchits, Natalya Kochetkova, Marina Gordienok, and Dmitry Tumas.
