Belarus joins Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) - Belarus has joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), BelTA learned from the website of the bank.

According to AIIB President Jin Liqun, new members in the bank demonstrate the trust of the international community in AIIB.

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank was founded in 2015 as part of China's initiative. It is a multilateral development bank with a mission to improve social and economic outcomes in Asia and beyond. The bank was founded in 2015 as an initiative of China. The bank mainly invests in the energy, transport and telecommunication sectors. Headquartered in Beijing, the bank has now grown to 80 approved members from around the world. Among the AIIB biggest shareholders are China, India and Russia.
