Belarus, Israel to sign agreement on scientific cooperation

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin and Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space Ofir Akunis are expected to sign an agreement on scientific cooperation, BelTA learned from spokesman for the State Science and Technology Committee Yuri Lukashevich.

The document envisages the creation of the Belarusian-Israeli working group on cooperation in science and technology and the organization of a contest of joint sci-tech projects, seminars, conferences and exhibitions.

Alexander Shumilin, as part of the Belarusian delegation, will take part in the sixth meeting of the joint Belarus-Israel committee on trade and economic cooperation in Jerusalem on 21-22 May. During the visit to Israel, Alexander Shumilin is set to meet with Director of BM Holdings Moudi Ben Shach to talk over a wide range of issues, including the transfer of technologies and cooperation in the sci-tech sector, interaction with Israeli companies producing high-tech products in Belarus. The chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee plans to visit the Israeli Innovation Authority and the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to discuss the development of the Belarusian-Israeli agro-industrial park.
