Belarus' Internal Affairs Ministry to develop ties with Japanese law enforcers

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry played host to a meeting between Internal Affairs Minister Yuri Karayev and Japan's Ambassador to Belarus Hiroki Tokunaga on 20 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry.

“The Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry is ready to develop bilateral cooperation with Japan across the entire range of the law enforcement activity. We would be grateful to your assistance in establishing direct working contacts with our colleagues to outline promising areas of cooperation,” Yuri Karayev said addressing the ambassador. The minister asked the diplomat to extend an invitation to the Chief Commissioner of the National Police Agency of Japan to visit Belarus any time.

According to Hiroki Tokunaga, people in Japan view Belarus as a calm and safe state. He handed an invitation to the head of the Belarusian law enforcement agency to take part in the 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice which is due to take place in Kyoto in April 2020.
