Belarus' humanitarian aid handed over to Syria

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Belarus' humanitarian aid has been handed over to Syria, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Damascus.

A delegation led by Belarus Deputy Emergencies Minister Igor Bolotov participated in a ceremony to hand over the humanitarian cargo from Belarus to Syria. The cargo includes two dump trucks and one MAZ bus, medical beds, medicines, artificial heart valves, school supplies, children's clothing and footwear, fitness equipment, dry milk, diesel generators.

The official ceremony was held in Latakia Province Administration. Belarus Deputy Emergencies Minister Igor Bolotov and Governor of Latakia Ibrahim al-Salem signed a transfer and receipt certificate.

A ceremony to hand over the humanitarian cargo took place at the seaport of Latakia. On behalf of Syria the event was attended by representatives of Syrian ministries and departments – recipients of humanitarian aid.

The results of the visit of the Belarusian delegation, which was organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Syria, were summed during a meeting with Syrian Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf in Damascus. The minister expressed gratitude to the Belarus government for the support of Syrian people. Hussein Makhlouf also expressed appreciation for the annual health recuperation program for Syrian children in Belarus implemented under the patronage of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
