Belarus' health resorts welcome guests from over 20 countries

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – There is an increasing interest in Belarusian health resorts on the part of foreign nationals, in particular from western countries, Gennady Bolbatovsky, director of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation, told reporters on 17 December, BelTA has learned.

“The health resorts affiliated with our center welcomed residents of over 20 countries. The structure of export is gradually changing as our western neighbors are showing an increasing interest in our services,” Gennady Bolbatovsky said. This trend can be partially attributed to the expansion of the visa-free area. “However, even before that, the export had been on the rise, including due to the growing number of guests coming from western countries,” the director of the center said.

The majority of foreign customers are Russians. They account for 90% of all tours sold to foreign nationals, Gennady Bolbatovsky said.

According to preliminary estimates, by the yearend Belarusian health resorts will have welcomed over 220,000 foreigners. Last year the figure stood at 208,000. The revenues from selling tours to foreign nationals are expected to expand by 11.2% to exceed Br190 million (Br170.8 million in 2017).
