Belarus' Grodno Oblast to showcase medical tourism, visa-free travel opportunities in Lithuania

GRODNO, 20 January (BelTA) – Grodno Oblast will showcase its medical tourism and visa-free travel opportunities at the Adventur 2020 international tourist exhibition in Vilnius, Lithuania, BelTA learned from the sport and tourism department of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

The presentation titled Grodno Oblast is a Territory for Comfortable Tourism on 24-26 January will introduce visitors to the region's tourism potential and the visa waiver programs.

“The Lithuanian market is crucial to us, since the majority of tourists in Grodno Oblast come from Lithuania. For example, in 2019 more than 83,000 out of approximately 122,000 visa-free tourists in Grodno Oblast were Lithuanians,” the sport and tourism department said. Since November 2019, the whole territory of Grodno Oblast has been made available for visa-free group tourism along planned tourist routes. The visa-free travel time for foreign citizens has been extended up to 15 days.

“It has provided some additional opportunities for the development of various types of tourism. Fifteen exhibitors will represent the region at the exhibition. Among them are healthcare facilities of Grodno Oblast which will showcase the local medical tourism potential. This type of tourism is also gaining rapid popularity,” the sport and tourism department noted.

The region will continue promoting its tourism industry on international markets. For example, Grodno Oblast will be featured at the thematic events in Latvia, Estonia and Poland in January and February.
