Belarus FM, diplomats to visit Khatyn on 22 March

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and members of the diplomatic corps are set to visit the Khatyn Memorial on 22 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The program of the visit will feature an excursion around the memorial and a flower and wreath ceremony at the Eternal Flame.

On 22 March 1943, the village of Khatyn joined the list of numerous Belarusian villages destroyed by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. Some 149 people, including 75 children, were burnt to death by the Nazis. After the war, a memorial to all those who died across Belarus was built on the site of the former village.
