Belarus, Ecuador sign agreement on cooperation in culture

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarus' Culture Ministry and the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador signed an agreement on cooperation in culture, BelTA informs.

The document was signed following the talks between Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and his Ecuadorian counterpart Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces. The document was inked by Belarus' Culture Minister Yuri Bondar and Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces.

Under the agreement, the parties will do their best to establish direct contacts and assist each other in the development of cooperation in culture.

Following the talks, the parties also signed a protocol of consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs on the draft intergovernmental agreement on the VAT exemption (return) of diplomatic missions and consular institutions of Belarus and Ecuador.

As it was reported, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Ecuador Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces. The head of state urged to take stock of the relations between the two countries. “We are going through a period in the Belarusian-Ecuadorian relations when we need to take stock of our relations, analyze the progress, maybe, discontinue some projects and draw up an action plan for the near future,” the head of state said.
