Belarus devises roadmap on efficient chemical substances management

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Belarus has drawn up a roadmap on efficient management of chemical substances, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Research Center for Hygiene.

The roadmap is aimed at building sustainable capacity in efficient management of chemical substances and raising awareness of health impacts of chemicals. It was presented at the second meeting of the WHO Global Chemicals and Health Network that was held online.

Belarus was one of the first five countries (together with Canada, the Philippines, Jordan, and Georgia) to draw up and start implementing such a roadmap.

“The presentation stressed the importance of the Healthcare Ministry participation in chemicals management at the national level and the role of the health sector in international chemicals discussion,” the message reads.

More than 70 WHO member states are part of the WHO Global Chemicals and Health Network. The first meeting of the network took place in 2018.
