Belarus' Defense Ministry launches Book of Memory data base

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Defense Ministry has launched an automated data base “The Book of Memory of the Republic of Belarus” developed by the Department for Perpetuation of Memory of Fatherland Defenders and War Victims in conjunction with the IT-company and the Vayar military information agency of the Armed Forces, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

The Book of Memory of the Republic of Belarus includes the names of the fallen and missing during the wars of the 20th century, Belarus' natives and citizens called up by the country's military enlistment offices, and also the names of citizens of other states who died in the territory of Belarus. The automated data base provides the information about the military graves on the state register. All in all, there are more than 7,000 of them, where more than 2 million people were buried. The personal data of more than 500,000 have been established. The data base will be regularly updated.
