MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - A planned renewal of weapons and military special equipment is underway in Belarus, Andrei Lukyanovich, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Belarusian Armed Forces, told the media, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
Speaking about the results of the past year, the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces emphasized: “The main achievement of the Armed Forces is that we have preserved peaceful skies over our country.”
“The head of state pays very close attention to the modernization and re-equipment of the Armed Forces. A planned renewal of weapons and military special equipment is in progress,” Andrei Lukyanovich said.
He recalled that a sufficient quantity of new models was received last year. “This concerns aviation, aircraft systems. These are Mi-35M helicopters; just before the New Year, we received another batch of Su-30SM2 aircraft. We also received Tor-M2K air defense missile systems and batteries, launchers for S-400 air defense missile systems, and new Rosa and Vostok radar stations,” Andrei Lukyanovich listed.
According to him, all of this together allows the troops to fully accomplish the tasks assigned to them. “Our main task is combat duty for air defense,” said the commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces.
Andrei Lukyanovich also stressed that strengthening the country’s defense capability and defense sector has been defined as one of the main priorities for the upcoming five-year period. “The figures speak for themselves. 50% of the equipment in the total volume of the state defense order will be precisely of domestic production,” he emphasized.
The commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces also expressed confidence that the key task, ensuring the country’s security, will be fulfilled.
