Belarus' Defense Ministry announces combat readiness check

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – Another combat readiness check for military units and subunits involved in crisis response will be conducted in May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

Major General Viktor Gulevich, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defense Minister, will be in charge of the inspection. “First of all, military units and subunits deployed in Grodno Oblast, Brest Oblast and Minsk Oblast will be checked. Apart from units of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, special operations forces of the Armed Forces, operational commands, missile troops and artillery, support units will also be involved in the combat readiness check. Practical training will make part of exercises and drills of different scale. Some of them will feature up to 1,000 draft-age persons,” the press service said.

The units will perform training and combat tasks at several ranges and terrains. The inspection events will also include the approbation of the people's militia units and their fulfillment of combat training tasks in the interest of maintaining martial law. In addition, air force and air defense force crews, together with crews of the Russian Air Force, will patrol the airspace of Belarus.
