BREST OBLAST, 14 April (BelTA) - The structure of international military security has been virtually destroyed, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin told journalists in a military training area in Brest Oblast on 14 April, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus was one of the first countries to voluntarily give up nuclear weapons and remove them. We were given guarantees that we would not be put under pressure, including economic one. It was enshrined in the Budapest Memorandum. What do we see now? All this was done in the interests of a small number of states that used it. They are fighting for world leadership, and they do not care about this memorandum,” Viktor Khrenin said.

According to the defense minister, some politicians in the West admitted that it was just a delusion and an attempt to buy time. “How should we act now? We cannot trust any guarantees from Western politicians. Last October, NATO countries conducted nuclear exercises. No one in the world commented on it much. Against the background of these exercises, the president of Poland made a statement that Warsaw was ready to deploy U.S. nuclear weapons on its territory. The president of Ukraine said that preventive strikes should be carried out on the territory of Russia. Which means the Union State. In addition, the UK officials stated that they were ready to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium ammunition for combat operations,” Viktor Khrenin stressed.
