MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina met with reporters on 17 November and talked about amusing complaints and situations observed during the current elections to the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament, BelTA has learned.
One of the complaints has been filed by a young Belarusian who had to cast his vote for the first time. “Police fined him for parking in a bad spot. He believes the Central Election Commission has to take measures to undo the fine because he was on his way to cast the vote,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
She also mentioned that an observer at a polling station in Mogilev had to be removed for taking photos. A human rights website published the observer's comment about the situation. According to Lidia Yermoshina, it is more than amusing. The man admits he did not want to stay for the vote counting part and decided it would be a good idea to get removed for taking photos than going away quietly out of his own will. “He just wanted a scandal because he didn't want to work,” Lidia Yermoshina stated. According to the observer, voters had also interfered with his work because they came in throngs of 8-10 people and obscured the ballot box as they were dropping their ballots.
