Belarus, Azerbaijan sign agreement on mutual recognition of driver’s licenses

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan have signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs led by Interal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov is on an official visit to Azerbaijan. Ivan Kubrakov met with Azerbaijan’s Internal Affairs Minister Vilayat Eyvazov. The heads of the law enforcement agencies of the two countries signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of driver’s licenses and a protocol on cooperation between the two countries’ interior ministries for 2026-2028. Ivan Kubrakov expressed gratitude for the invitation and the opportunity to learn about the work of their Azerbaijani counterparts. He noted that in recent years bilateral relations have reached the highest level, developing in politics, economy, culture and other areas on the basis of strong mutual trust.
Consideration was given to matters of further cooperation in ensuring international security. “We currently give a positive assessment of our bilateral relations, and we further propose to enhance them with practical measures. It will allow sharing the latest working methods and, consequently, introducing best practices in combating crime,” the Belarusian minister stressed. As promising avenues, the Belarusian side proposed mutual training, retraining, and professional development of personnel, along with the development of technological and industrial cooperation, including opportunities offered by the Belarusian defense industry.

In turn, Vilayat Eyvazov spoke about the operational situation in Azerbaijan and positive trends in combating crime, expressing interest in sharing experience with the Belarusian side.

On the first day of the visit, the guests also learned about the operations of the rapid response police regiment of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs.
