Belarus, Azerbaijan law enforcement agencies to sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarus' Investigative Committee led by its Chairman Ivan Noskevich is in Baku to sign a cooperation agreement between Belarus' Investigative Committee and Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office, BelTA learned from Belarus' Investigative Committee.

The Belarusian delegation and their Azerbaijani counterparts are set to take part in joint events on 14 and 15 March. “Belarus' delegation led by Investigative Committee Chairman Ivan Noskevich will meet with Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov to sign a cooperation agreement between Belarus' Investigative Committee and Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office. The agreement is designed to give a boost to bilateral cooperation and improve the legal framework,” the Investigative Committee informed.

The parties are also set to discuss cooperation plans for the future. The Belarusian delegation would like to study Azerbaijan's best practices in reforming pre-trial criminal procedures, as well as its expertise in prosecutor's supervision during preliminary investigation and other aspects of professional activities of Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office.

Belarus' Investigative Committee collaborates with Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies while investigating criminal cases as part of the Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases as of 7 October 2002 and within the framework of other international treaties.
