Belarus attends EUROSAI Congress 2021

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov took part in the 11th Congress of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) held via video conference on 14 April, BelTA learned from the State Control Committee.

Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and representatives of international organizations considered reports on the activities of EUROSAI, its working and special groups for the last three years, reports of EUROSAI auditors, as well as the implementation of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan for 2017-2024. “This document defines the strategic goals of the organization: support for the effective, innovative and sound auditing through stimulating professional cooperation, assistance to SAIs in seizing new opportunities and addressing emerging challenges through the development of institutional capacity,” the committee said.

The Congress is the supreme body of EUROSAI. It is convened once every three years to discuss the most topical issues of common professional interest, and also to make decisions related to the activities of EUROSAI.

The State Control Committee of Belarus takes an active part in the EUROSAI working groups on environmental audit and on audit of funds allocated for prevention and elimination of consequences of disasters and catastrophes. The international audit of the prevention and elimination of consequences of floods was completed in early 2021. Taking part in the audit were the SAIs of Belarus, Georgia, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and the EU. The State Control Committee together with the SAIs of Poland and Ukraine was engaged in an international audit of protection against water pollution in the Western Bug river basin, and together with the SAI of Slovakia conducted a parallel audit of public procurement.

Currently, the State Control Committee of Belarus participates in a parallel audit of the effectiveness of protection of the population from infectious diseases together with the SAIs of Hungary, Slovakia and Poland.

EUROSAI is one of the seven regional groups of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). It brings together 49 SAIs of European countries and the European Court of Auditors. The State Control Committee of Belarus has been a member of EUROSAI since 2002.
