NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) - The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus actively cooperates with 11 provinces of China, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belaurs (NASB) Sergei Chizhik said at the opening of the Belarusian-Chinese forum "Innovative Development of Smart Manufacturing", BelTA has learned.
Last year, Belarus and the People's Republic of China celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. "Over these 30 years, the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation has been continuously moving forward, bringing fruitful results to our peoples. Bilateral cooperation is also growing stronger. We have moved from friendly relations to strategic partnership. Thanks to the active actions by the leaders of our countries, we can move forward quite actively and quickly," Sergei Chizhik said.
Smart manufacturing is the most important topic for modern technology development. "At the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow, the president named the priority areas of development where Belarus has competencies. These include precision engineering, microelectronics, green energy and others. Along with the traditional areas, for which Belarus is known for, we are developing other sectors too. The Academy of Sciences is incorporates a wide range of institutes and organizations, each of which has R&D in various fields. We seek closer cooperation with our Chinese colleagues, because it is China that is the world's technological powerhouse," he said.
The National Academy of Sciences attaches special importance to this cooperation, Sergei Chizhik emphasized. "A special council has been set up to promote cooperation in science and technology with China. Now the National Academy of Sciences is most actively cooperating with 11 provinces of China. We have switched to regional cooperation with both Russia and China and set up technology transfer centers in China to promote the NASB developments to the Chinese market. Multifaceted cooperation in science and technology yields a synergistic effect, gives us an opportunity to rapidly increase efficiency and to establish exchanges in all areas from economy to intercultural relations," he concluded.
