Be-La-Rus festival to bring together 500 young people from Belarus, Latvia, Russia

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) - About 500 young people from Belarus, Latvia and Russia will gather for the 28th edition of the international youth camp Be-La-Rus 2019 on 25-29 July which is traditionally held near the Mound of Friendship in Verkhnedvinsk District, Secretary of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Aleksandra Goncharova told BelTA.

The motto of this year's forum is Unlock Your SUPERpowers! “Youth is a great driving force. We can unlock our superpowers in sport, art, education, communication, management and, most importantly, in friendship. Superpower of the youth is in its active life position, enterprising spirit, continuity of generations,” Aleksandra Goncharova noted.

Belarus will be this year's host. The camp will run educational, sports and creative platforms. For example, the educational platform will feature Team Building and three educational training workshops. Open Dialogue will offer young people from the three countries to share ideas and best practices. Particular attention will be paid to the development of youth policies and interregional cooperation.

“The sport platform will feature the traditional sports such as volleyball, football, darts, tug-of-war and also the new event SUPERrun. The creative platform is one of the most popular among young people. They demonstrate their talents during the opening and closing of the camp. This year's new events include Stand Up show, camping contest Be-La-Rus Universe and also the national cuisine festival SUPER_FOOD,” Aleksandra Goncharova informed.

Traditionally, the young people will hold a commemorative event for the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War together with war veterans from Belarus and Russia and visit the military museum.

The historical site of the Mound of Friendship was erected in 1959 to commemorate the military union of partisans from Belarus, Latvia, and Russia. On top of the mound grows the oak - a symbol of unbreakable friendship of the three peoples. Three granite slabs have an inscription in the three languages that reads: “The Mound of Friendship was set up at the junction of the borders of the three fraternal countries in honor of the combat friendship sealed with blood of Russian, Belarusian and Latvian partisans during the Great Patriotic War. Opened on 3 July 1959.
