Another traditional Chinese medicine center to open in Belarus

MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – The Minsk Oblast administration in association with partners from the Chinese city of Chongqing plans to open another center of traditional Chinese medicine in Minsk Oblast, Head of the Main Healthcare Department of the Minsk Oblast administration Natalya Boyarskaya said following a meeting with a delegation from Chongqing, BelTA has learned.

Cooperation in healthcare was top on the agenda of the meeting with the Chinese delegation that included heads of traditional Chinese medicine facilities.

“Several years ago Minsk Oblast and Chongqing signed a twinning agreement. Today we are going to sign a memorandum of intent to cooperate in traditional Chinese medicine and pediatrics. We believe that it is important that we are able to combine Western and Eastern approaches to provide the best medical and rehabilitation care for our patients,” Natalya Boyarskaya said. “We are looking into a possibility to open the center of traditional Chinese medicine in Minsk Oblast in association with a partner from the city of Chongqing,” she added. The hospital of Tongnan District of Chongqing might become Minsk Oblast's partner in this project. The head of the hospital is in Belarus as part of the Chinese delegation.

Centers of traditional Chinese medicine have already opened in all regions of Belarus, Natalya Boyarskaya noted. The first such facility was set up in Minsk Oblast with support of Zhejiang Province (the city of Hangzhou). Chinese medicine has proven to be quite popular among Belarusians. Since its establishment, the center has provided services for over 3,000 people. “Specialists of the center underwent training in China and mastered the main medical practices of traditional Chinese medicine,” Natalya Boyarskaya added.

The memorandum also provides for exchange of specialists and organization of master classes in various fields (pediatrics, traumatology, surgery, and cardiology).

Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Health Commission Wang Wei confirmed the interest of Chinese partners in cooperation with Belarus. He hailed the high level of healthcare services in Belarus in general and in Minsk Oblast in particular. The Chinese delegation visited Belarusian State Medical University, the Academy of Postgraduate Education, and some medical facilities of Minsk.

The delegation is also set to visit the Stolbtsy Central District Hospital and the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Nesvizh.
