
MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Parliamentarians are working consistently on improving legislative support for the economy, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic on 24 May, BelTA has learned.
“This year, as part of fulfilling their supervisory functions, deputies and members of the Council of the Republic heard out performance reports from the prosecutor general, the chairman of the State Control Committee and the chairman of the Board of the National Bank. Today we are holding a joint meeting of the two chambers of the National Assembly in order to ask the government questions about the country's economic development. Taking part in the joint meeting are First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov and heads of a number of government agencies,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
According to him, parliamentarians are investing a lot of effort in improving legislative support for economic activities. “During the current session alone, a number of laws were adopted to implement the comprehensive government plan to support the economy; we improved approaches to settling insolvency, fighting corruption, and transferring property to external management,” the speaker noted.
