MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The 7th Belarusian People’s Congress is one of the most significant events in the country’s public life and political life, it traditionally becomes a platform for a broad discussion about Belarus’ future, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry quoted Yuri Gorlov, Agriculture and Food Minister, a delegate of the Belarusian People’s Congress, as saying, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Gorlov said: “We will discuss Belarus’ social and economic development program, which will set strategic guidelines for the next few years and will determine what we want our country to look like tomorrow. The Belarusian People’s Congress is an important mechanism for mobilizing public opinion. It takes into account the position of every citizen while the dialogue between the authorities and the society proceeds in an open and constructive manner. And it cannot be otherwise: we are talking about the country’s prospects, about the quality of life and well-being of its citizens.”

The program focuses on creating a highly productive agribusiness complex. Its implementation is supposed to secure transition to a brand new level of life. Technological modernization, innovation, robotization, and digitization will affect the entire production chain: from the field to the consumer while increasing the competitiveness of Belarusian products on the domestic market and foreign ones.

“It is the people of the land, those who have been involved in agriculture since childhood, that understand the realities of the agricultural sector better than anyone else. They are true workers. They work without days off or holidays and have enormous prospects. To unlock this potential, it is necessary to ensure comfortable living conditions and access to modern services and technologies in both villages and small towns. Both experienced agrarians and young specialists should see prospects for self-realization, feel the demand for and value of their labor, and receive decent wages,” the minister added.

Yuri Gorlov emphasized that the future of Belarus is shaped by daily work, professionalism, and civic responsibility. “This is what we invest in the prosperity of our homeland, and this is what we will discuss during the Belarusian People’s Congress,” the minister concluded.
