MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Gulevich observed practical actions of the aviation component of the Belarus-Russia regional military force in the military exercise area Ruzhansky, BelTA has learned.

According to Viktor Gulevich, aerial support of the Belarus-Russia regional military force is being practiced as part of the ongoing tactical air force exercise. The planning of aviation deployment was practiced during the first stage. Aerial units also began active actions in aviation exercise areas and in various locations. Belarusian and Russian flight crews are supposed to carry out missions involving aerial reconnaissance, reconnaissance checks, follow-up reconnaissance after strikes, search and rescue missions, and assault landing of troops.

Cutting-edge practices for organizing the flight composition of aviation groups are being adopted in the course of the exercise. “It is necessary in order for pilots to carry out tasks effectively and safety. The tightest interaction happens in the course of passing on information and consequently flying missions. While some recon sites, other pilots deliver strikes, yet other pilots cover them and carry out search and rescue if necessary,” the officer noted. “Pilots are truly worth their weight in gold. The cost of every pilot is very nigh and we have to try to save personnel in any conditions as much as possible.”

In the course of the Belarusian-Russian tactical air force exercise flight crews use the military exercise area Ruzhansky to practice suppressing air defenses, destroying command posts, eliminating the simulated enemy's personnel and materiel. Apart from that, fighter aircraft provide cover to strike groups of ground-attack aircraft and bombers.
