MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – The World Athletics has announced its Diamond League shortened provisional calendar for 2020, BelTA learned from the official website of the sport organization.

The tournament will kick off with a meeting in Monaco on 14 August. Then, the Diamond League meetings are scheduled to take place in Stockholm (23 August), Lausanne (2 September), Brussels (4 September), Paris (6 September), Gateshead (12 September), Rome/Naples (17 September), Shanghai (19 September) and Doha (9 October). The meeting in China will wrap up the season on 17 September. Its venue will be announced later.

It was also reported that in 2020 the Diamond League will not be a structured series of competitions leading to the final, as it was before. The reason for this decision is the lack of harmony in the training processes of athletes, the inability to ensure equal conditions and a fair system of qualification. Therefore, the athletes will not earn points. The Diamond League Final in Zurich will not take place either.
