MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – UEFA EURO 2020 has been postponed until 2021 amid the spread of the novel coronavirus, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Norwegian Football Association.
It is planned that the competitions will take place on 11 June to 11 July 2021.
On 26 March, Belarus was to play Georgia in Tbilisi as part of the Nations League. The winner was to face the winner of North Macedonia v Kosovo encounter on 31 March.
The tournament was due to have been held this year from 12 June to 12 July across 12 countries, including Rome, Glasgow, Bilbao, Budapest, Dublin, Copenhagen, Munich, Amsterdam, Bucharest, St. Petersburg, Baku and London.
Earlier, UEFA had canceled the Champions League and Europa League playoff matches scheduled for 17 and 19 March. As for now, four Champions League quarter finalists are known: Paris Saint-Germain, Atalanta, Atletico and RB Leipzig.
FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have agreed to postpone the upcoming Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. FIFA have suspended South America World Cup qualifiers as well. FIFA has also recommended to postpone international matches scheduled for March and April.
