MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – Belarusian sambo wrestler Anzhela Zhilinskaya won gold at the ongoing 2nd European Games in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
In the women's -72kg final the Belarusian defeated Georgia's Nino Odzelashvili.
“I did everything my coach told me before the bout. This helped me to win. It was a very long road to this victory. However, there are still things I need to polish,” Anzhela Zhylinskaya told the media.
Head coach of Belarus sambo team Vyacheslav Kot noted that the morning was hard for the national team. The athletes were feeling the burden of responsibility. According to him, there were a lot of difficult bouts.
The sambo tournament at the 2nd European Games features 144 athletes competing in 18 medal events. The tournament in the Sports Palace will end on 23 June.
