MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) - Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus lost to world number two Simona Halep of Romania 6-3, 2-6, 4-6 in the quarterfinal of the 2020 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on 20 February, BelTA has learned.
Simona Halep will next face world number 52 Jennifer Brady of the United States.
In the first round Aryna Sabalenka sent home Greece's Maria Sakkari 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. Then the Belarusian needed an hour an a half to see off her doubles partner Elise Mertens of Belgium (World No.22) 6-4, 6-3.
Egor Gerasimov of Belarus reached the Open 13 Provence quarterfinal in Marseille, France, after defeating world number 10 David Goffin of Belgium in two sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). In the doubles event the Belarusian-Israeli tandem Andrei Vasilevski and Jonathan Erlich failed to reach the semifinal losing to Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Nikola Mektic of Croatia 3-6, 5-7.
