Minsk 2019: Competition Day Six

The 2nd European Games are underway in Minsk. Athletes are competing in 16 medal events across five sports on day six.

Best of the best will be named in canoe sprint, wrestling, table tennis, archery and rifle&pistol shooting. Qualifications will be held in beach soccer, badminton, boxing, while Dinamo Stadium will host athletics semifinals.

Belarus goes second in the medal table with 41 (14 gold, 9 silver, 18 bronze) medals. Russia tops the overall standings with the total of 53 (24, 13, 16) medals. Georgia is third with 20 (6, 5, 9) medals.

Aleh Yurenia finished +1.355 second behind the frontrunner. Hungary's Balint Kopasz won gold. Fernando Pimenta of Portugal came second.

The German athlete placed third in the Men's C1 1000m, finishing ahead of Belarus' Maksim Piatrou.

In the Women's Recurve Individual quarterfinals Belarus' Karyna Dziominskaya competed with Gabriela Bayardo from Netherlands. The Belarusian archer was close to victory, yet she lost 5:6.

The Belarusian finished third in the qualifying round. In the final, Yury Shcherbatsevich fought for gold against Russia's Sergey Kamenskiy, yet landed second. Bronze went to Istvan Peni of Hungary.
