Minsk 2019: Belarusian archers learn rivals

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – The first qualifying round of the archery competitions of the 2nd European Games has completed at Olimpiyski Sports Complex, BelTA has learned.

Belarus will be represented by three athletes in the men's recurve individual round of Last 64. Kiryl Firsau will face Janis Bruzis of Latvia, Aliaksandr Liahushau will take on Russia' Arsalan Baldanov, Pavel Dalidovich will play Itay Shanny of Israel.

In the women's compound qualifications Belarus' Alena Kuzniatsova scored 667 points to place 14th. On 22 June the Belarusian will face Sophie Dodemont of France in a bid to for the quarterfinal berth. The French athlete clinched bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The first medal events in archery are scheduled for 22 June. The archery tournament will last through 27 June.
