MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided to provide additional financial support to national Olympic committees (NOCs) under the Olympic Solidarity program, BelTA learned from the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Olympic Solidarity has increased the budget allocated to the program named IOC Subsidies for the Participation of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) in the Olympic Games by almost $10 million to $57 million. This decision will allow NOCs to sustain additional costs that might occur in the lead-up to the Tokyo Games, now to be staged in 2021. The subsidies cover the travel expenses and accommodation costs incurred prior to the Games and, during the Games, contribute to the travel expenses for athletes, team officials and NOC officials; and cover NOCs' Games-related operational expenses. The preparation of the new Olympic Solidarity 2021-2024 plan, which will take into account the NOCs' needs in this new context, is currently underway.

The 32nd Summer Olympic Games are due to take place on 23 July – 8 August 2021 in Tokyo. The 24th Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing on 4-20 February 2022.
