MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Belarus did a fine job organizing the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, BelTA learned from President of the European Olympic Committees Janez Kocijancic on 30 June.
The sport functionary mentioned the great amount of work the Belarusian side had done. “These games have been organized excellently. They represent a good foundation for the next ones,” Janez Kocijancic said. He stressed that the European Games remain free from performance-enhancing drugs and congratulated all the participating states and the organizers on the fact.
Janez Kocijancic mentioned some statistics concerning the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019. As many as 3,660 athletes from all the 50 countries of the European Olympic Committees took part in the games. Medals were awarded to 43 countries. Russia holds the largest number of them – 109 medals.
Spyros Capralos, Chairman of the Coordination Commission of the European Olympic Committees, backed Janez Kocijancic. Spyros Capralos stressed that the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 had exceeded all expectations. He said that athletes, sport federations, and Olympic committees have spoken highly of accommodation conditions, transportation, and of sport venues.
