MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – It was an honor for me and other athletes to represent Belarus at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Ilya Korzun, the winner of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games in the Men's Mixed NOC 3-on-3 event, said at a ceremony to honor medalists of the games in the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“First of all, I would like to thank the Belarus NOC and the Belarus Ice Hockey Federation who let us represent our country at the Games in Lausanne,” the athlete said. “I should also thank my parents and fans. I felt their support in Lausanne,” he added.
Ilya Korzun hopes that the performance in Lausanne will be good for his career. “Now I am playing for the team of the Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve in Belarus' Open Ice Hockey Championship among sports schools. My dream is to play in the National Hockey League and to excel in matches for Team Belarus, to take part in the most prestigious tournaments. I have to work hard for that,” the winner of the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne added.
The ceremony to honor the medalists of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne on 9-22 January 2020 was held today in the Hall of Olympic Glory at the National Olympic Committee.
Belarus fielded athletes in biathlon (3 boys and 3 girls), Alpine skiing (1 boy), speed skating (2 boys and 2 girls), cross-country skiing (2 boys and 2 girls), and ice hockey (4 boys).
