Germany to send 150 athletes to 2nd European Games in Minsk

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has decided on the participation of the German team in the 2nd European Games which are due to take place in Minsk in June 2019, BelTA learned from the official website of DOSB.

Germany plans to field about 150 athletes. €300,000 will be allocated to prepare them for the forthcoming competitions.

At the 1st European Games in Baku, Germany won 66 (16 gold, 17 silver, 33 bronze) medals to finish 4th in the medal table.

Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports. Competitions in eight sports will serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
