MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) agreed to shift its next General Assembly to November 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.

The General Assembly was originally scheduled to take place in Istanbul on 30-31 October. Now it will take place in Rome on 27 November.

Participants of the event will discuss the date for the election of a new president of the organization. It is planned that the new EOC head will be elected in February 2021. It will be made possible after the proposed amendment to the charter is agreed by the General Assembly. Since the death of EOC President Janez Kocijancic on 1 June 2020, Niels Nygaard has been leading the organization as Acting President.

The General Assembly will also be asked to approve the 2019 financial statements and 2021 budget.
