Belarusian Women's Football Championship to kick off on 30 April

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Women's Football Championship will start on 30 April. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Belarusian Football Federation in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

The event was initially due to start on 16 April. The Belarusian Football Federation later decided to postpone the start as several players were in contact with possible COVID-19 carriers. Their tests were negative.

In the first tour FC Minsk, the current champion and the winner of the Belarus Cup and Belarus Super Cup, will open the tournament against FC Dnepr Mogilev.

FC Zorka BDU, the silver medalist of the previous tournament will face the team of the Brest Oblast Olympic Center. FC Neman Grodno, the bronze medalist, will play FC Bobruichanka. FC Dinamo BGUFK Minsk will host the U19 Belarusian national team.

The 29th edition of the Belarusian Women's Football Championship will be played in three tours through 8 November. FC Minsk have raised the main trophy for the past seven years. FC Bobruichanka is the most titled team in the country after winning gold medals 12 times. The tournament was also won by FC Universitet Vitebsk (six times), FC Nadezhda Mogilev (twice) and FC Victoria Brest (once).
