Belarusian Swimming Championships postponed until further notice

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Swimming Championships have been postponed until further notice, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Swimming Federation.

The competitions were due to be held without fans in Brest on 21-25 April, and have been postponed until further notice amid the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, the Belarusian Swimming Federation had postponed the Belarusian Junior Swimming Championships that were scheduled for 31 March-4 April.

The new dates of the tournaments will be announced later.

The coaching staff of the Belarusian national team placed their big medal hopes on Ilya Shymanovich and Anastasia Shkurdai in medley relay events.

As BelTA reported earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) named a new deadline for the Tokyo Olympics qualification period. It will be over on 29 June 2021.

As for today, 72 Belarusian athletes competing in 15 sports have qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Olympic qualifying tournaments have been postponed in the light of the COVID-19 spread.

The 32nd Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021.
