MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes won a total of 846 medals at big international tournaments – world and European championships, World and European Cups in 2019, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.
Among the medals won there were 250 gold, 278 silver and 318 bronze medals. Belarusian athletes clinched ten (three gold, four silver and three bronze) medals in the Olympic disciplines. The 2019 world champion titles (Olympic sports) were claimed by Aliaksandra Ramanouskaya (aerials), Volha Silkina (modern pentathlon), Maryna Litvinchuk and Volha Khudzenka (canoe sprint). Belarusians secured 46 (10, 20, 16) medals at the European championships (Olympic sports).
A total of 278 Belarusian athletes (28 sports) are gearing up for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Belarus has so far earned 66 Olympic berths in 14 sports. The Tokyo Olympics qualification in some sports will complete in June 2020. The Olympics in the Japanese capital will be held from 24 July to 9 August.
