Belarus win 4 Nations Cup 2019 in Poland

MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian handball team won the 4 Nations Cup 2019 which took place in Tarnow, Poland on 27-29 December, BelTA has learned.

In their final match Belarus edged Poland 25-24 (15-11). Nikita Vailupov led the team with eight goals.

In the opener, Yuri Shevtsov's team defeated the United Arab Emirates 31-24. Then, Belarus beat Spain 30-26.

The teams final standings are as follows: Belarus – 6 points, Spain – 4 points, Poland – 2 points and the UAE – 0 points.

The Belarusian team is back home for now and will travel for the 2020 European Men's Handball Championship on 7 January.

The 2020 EHF European Men's Handball Championship will be the 14th edition of the tournament and co-hosted for the first time by three countries, Austria, Norway and Sweden from 9 to 26 January 2020. Belarus will play Serbia, Montenegro and Croatia in Group A (Graz, Austria). Two best-performing teams out of each of six preliminary quarters will advance to the main round.
