Belarus to compete for Olympic berths in 3x3 basketball in India

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian women's national team will compete at the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Bengaluru, India, BelTA has learned.

Belarus will face Hungary and Sri Lanka on 19 March and Estonia and the Netherlands on 21 March in Group C.

The FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament will feature 20 teams divided into four groups. Two best teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinal, and three best teams of the tournament will get tickets to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Belarusian team will kick off its training camp in Minsk on 9 March. The team under the tutelage of Yuri Volk will comprise seven players: Maryna Ivashchanka (BC Marburg Germany), Anastasiya Sushchyk (BC Siauliai Lithuania), Darya Mahalias, Natallia Dashkevich (both – BC Nika Syktyvkar, Russia), Natallia Anufryienka, Vialetta Kivlyak (both – BC Horizont Minsk Oblast), Tatsiana Likhtarovich (ESCH Luxembourg).

The four-member roster for the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament will be named once the training camp is over. Last year the Belarusian 3x3 basketball team of Maryna Ivashchanka, Anastasiya Sushchyk, Darya Mahalias and Natallia Dashkevich won bronze at the 2nd European Games in Minsk.
