Belarus' Mariya Koulinkovitch wins karate bronze at 2nd European Games

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) – Belarus Mariya Koulinkovitch clinched the Women's Kumite -50kg bronze at the 2nd European Games on 30 June, BelTA has learned.

Earlier on 30 June she defeated Germany's Shara Hubrich and Azerbaijan's Nurana Aliyeva in the elimination rounds. However, she lost to Austria's Bettina Plank in the semi-finals. Another bronze medal went to Sophia Bouderbane of France.

Four years ago Mariya Koulinkovitch was fifth in the 1st European Games in Baku. Her biggest achievement is bronze of the 2016 European Karate Championships.

In 2020 karate will make part of the Olympic Games program. The 2020 Summer Olympics will take place in Tokyo.
